Why this photo of shoes? I Love Shoes!
I love the creativity, design, imagination and the outrageousness in some cases that goes into an exquisite final product.
Shoes silently speak volumes about who we are, what work we do, how hard or easy it has been to walk through life.
I think they are the appropriate metaphor to explain who I am.
SNEAKERS (Wife, Mother, Nana)
Life is busy, and gets busier when it's you, a husband and two children. I have been blessed be married to my hubby for over 40 years and to be able to boast about three accomplished adult children-a daughter, a son and his wife, and their new baby boy-April 5, 2021.
SENSIBLE SHOES WITH ARCH SUPPORT (Educator)
Twenty-five years were spent in elementary public school education working as a speech pathologist in the early years, but the love of books and reading prompted a lateral move. After eight years in the special education world and doing more post-graduate coursework, I became an elementary school media specialist (b.k.a.- a library teacher) for the rest of my career. I was always on my feet.
WALKING SHOES (Traveler)
What started with our first trip abroad in 1984 to Egypt and Israel has turned into a wanderlust throughout the USA and overseas especially since 2013 when I retired. My hubby and I are part time RVers driving Miss Winnie (a 2006 Winnebago) to escape the winter cold or the summer heat. My Keens have walked around in many states, and have served me well in Canada, China, Italy, Peru, the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. They are still going strong.
SLIPPERS (Crafter)
From 2002-2012 I made jewelry as a hobby that turned into a wonderful obsession and a tiny business. In 2015 I resurrected my crocheting skills because yarn is much easier and lighter to store than beads in the RV. This led to facilitating an outreach ministry with others that has blessed assisted living and medical centers, a women's shelter with hats, blankets and wraps, and a kindergarten classroom with hats and scarves.
BAREFOOT OR SOCKS (Writer)
The writing bug has crawled in and out of my life from creative writing assignments and projects in grade school to self-publishing the devotional journal Yahweh Tsuri and writing articles for various online sites including a photo-travel blog in my adult years. My hope is that this latest evolution of my writing for Your Wake Up Word will bless you with support and encouragement as you walk out your journey through life.
