We had been to the Show back in 2005 when I was in my beading/jewelry phase. So going to the different venues brought back many pleasant memories of shopping and just being amazed at the never-ending wealth that comes from the heart of the earth.
In addition to the beads and gems, this show has fossils, dinosaur bones, preserved insects under glass as well as the accessories that go along with these hobbies.
These venues are all over the city which are large areas that house vendors, many of whom are from other nations. One venue is the African Village showcasing the wares from countries in Africa. Hubby had a very good time buying three wood carvings (mahogany) from one vendor who was from Senegal. This venue is open air and the winter sun is still hot. So I bought a hat....a very large hat which now serves me well when I'm in my garden.
The Biosphere 2 (planet Earth is Biosphere 1) is an "Earth system science research center" located in Oracle, north of Tucson and operated by the University of Arizona. We took the hour tour to see inside the facility. It was interesting and the grounds were beautiful, but not a must-see-again trip for us.
