We have met other RVers who are caravanning to Alaska as well as free-floaters like us meeting each other at stops like the gas station. Although we are using a book called The Milepost that gives detailed information about gas stations, campgrounds, maps of routes and other information to guide your travel to Alaska, you get gas when you can. Hubby's rule of thumb is when we've used 25% of a full tank, we look for a gas station. This is not the road to see how far a tank will take you.

Black bears are common on this stretch of the Alcan Highway. Below is a momma bear and her cubs. She had two but I couldn't get the whole family in one frame. You could barely see the one cub in the grass.
