We explored the city on our own driving into the downtown area after dinner at a very popular fish & chips place - Cockney Kings Fish & Chips. We found it by accident through the GPS when the first fish & chips place was close. This place was packed when we walked in and they were closing in an hour and a half. Finally, we were seated to look over the selection of chips with fried haddock, cod, salmon or halibut. As someone told us "Fried is fried", and fried salmon does not do the fish justice, at least not for me. Still, it was a good find when you've just gotta have the greasy stuff.
We ate at the Burnaby location
The trip was out of Horseshoe Bay where the BC Ferry loads and unloads foot passengers and vehicles hourly.
When we returned back to the docks, a local was waiting for her dinner of fish remains - the resident seal. Our captain said that she has pups, and is always there waiting for the boats to return.
